I’m the founder and proud owner of Foxxi Foamz Bath & Body Essentials. I started this business from a place in my life where I was securely fixed to a job I felt was taking me further away from what I wanted. Sure, I loved my job and the invaluable experience it offered me, but as a Quality Assurance Officer in a large processing factory, I came to view myself as just a statistic going through automation. The daily routine was repetitive, physically demanding and although my role was to ensure established product quality standards were the highest (organisation and sanitation being right up my alley) and working along side a great group of people from all walks of life, after a few years I started to crave more. 

I wanted creativity. I wanted to love love my job. I wanted to be my own boss. To implement the skills I had gained in my role as a QA into my own business. I was tired of following in the footsteps of my forefathers - grinding day to day in factory settings whether it be in fruit/veg pack houses, vineyards or meat processing plants - I craved the change like nothing I ever felt before.

For myself. For my family.

As far back as I can remember, I’ve had a genuine love and interest in all things natural, plants, oils and their healing abilities. I collected articles (when the internet was still in its infancy, magazine articles were the go to!) I carefully studied them and memorised their benefits. I had a room dedicated to my research.

I started properly experimenting with plant derived ingredients when my friends complained of skin irritations like dermatitis and severe dried skin. Honestly, I’m sure no one was expecting anything I whipped up to help. Sure, they had tried everything offered at their local supermarkets and pharmacies, and if nothing worked thus far, how was I going to miraculously change their condition with a product they knew very little about? 

All reluctance and hesitancy set aside, they gave it a try. Low and behold, they were blown away when their skin reacted positively, and their skin complaints disappeared. To say they were delighted is an understatement. They loved it! Soon they were recommending my product to others. 

Spurred on by a newfound faith in myself, I slowly transitioned into the idea of perhaps starting my own business.

At the beginning of 2022 I handed in my notice at my job and took the leap of faith.

I was on fire and ready to hit the world running!

I was one week away from turning my dream into reality when I was involved in a car accident. I was carrying two passengers, my 16-years old son and nephew. A car on the opposite side of the road heading south - a 100k zone area - had pulled out onto our lane as we were heading north and collided with us.

The accident scene was pure and utter carnage. As a result we sustained serious injuries, various broken bones, contusions and open gashes. We were carried from the wreckage by a passerby whom I nicknamed ‘The Hulk’ - called so for his ability in hulking the door open after my very own feeble attempts failed. Within a matter of minutes the other driver’s car was engulfed in flames and blew out all the windows, sending a resounding boom and shards of glass accompanied by a thick plume of black smoke across the highway.

Thank goodness no lives were lost that day. We were extremely lucky. If it wasn’t for ALL those awesome souls who helped and assisted us in feeling more comfortable, under the circumstances, while the medical services were enroute, this tale would be a different one - It is to them I extend heartfelt gratefulness to, for they showed true heroism and bravery that day. Bless them. 

After several months of recovery and recuperation, all the while the rest of NZ was climbing out of a mass case of C-19, I too was undergoing a new lease on life, one filled with a deep sated determination for the fulfilment of my dream.

The dream is no longer that but one of reality. 

Foxxi Foamz is a Foxton Based small business providing handcrafted and handmade bath and body essentials nationwide. We make our products on site, giving us complete control over the process to insure peak freshness and quality. 

Our mission is to be the preferred supplier of unique all natural hand poured candles and handmade body products in New Zealand by continually providing exceptional customer service, sourcing the best products and offering the best value for money across our ever expanding range.
